“Ukraine is working on a variant of gas import from Romania,” head of the Ukrainian state oil company Naftogaz Yuriy Vitrenko said on Monday.
Vitrenko noted at a press conference that Naftogaz can meet gas demand from industrial companies at market prices. “The question is whether commercial/industrial customers are ready to buy gas at the market price. If so, Naftogaz is and has always been a reliable supplier of gas and we will meet customer demand,” company CEO said in a quote from the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
“Naftogaz has the capacity for additional imports from Europe,” he added. “We are able to import gas from various European countries, such as Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. For the time being, however, we are working on the option of importing from Romania,” Vitrenko explained.
He noted that the demand of the population and the heating industry is met as a result of Naftogaz’s own gas production and accumulated reserves of kept in underground storage facilities, writes Interfax-Ukraine.
